SMART HOMES is a housing production business created by Nigerian architects, based on innovation and economies of scale. The severe housing deficit in Nigeria today arising from the high cost of imported building materials, has been estimated to be in the millions of housing units. Our business idea is to use local, traditional building materials in new and efficient ways to produce modern, stylish homes designed for the working class Nigerian family.
Through innovation and research, and by perceiving sustainable housing as a business opportunity, we have developed a house type that is suitable and affordable. Our patented construction system has the potential to enable workmen complete the site works - foundations, floor and walls - within two weeks. Our patented tropical window systems provide indoor climate control for the warm humid region. We also intend to incorporated micro-electricity production at the household scale.
