Hypersmart
HyperSmart is a 'spin-out' company from Teesside University. In June 2002 an applied research project was undertaken into the potential for the Hypertext Transfer Protocol to provide multiple 'plug and play' applications within the embedded systems market space. In April 2005 the company patented the SmartAdaptor(TM) transformation engine. This powerful engine only requires mapping customer requirements onto reusable modules which then provide XML data services. These resulting services fully integrate into any customers I.T. infrastructure.
There is a growing legal requirement and a need to address student retention issues in the H.E. Sector. Teesside University have recognised this and following a review of currently available systems have commissioned HyperSmart to provide a solution. Their specification is currently being mapped onto the SmartAdaptor(TM) transformation engine and the resulting XML output will be connected to their e-learning and student records applications. The system is being developed under the brand STAR “StudenT Attendance Recording”.
