The History Faculty
The History Faculty offers FREE video & audio lectures by leading UK historians to A-level, AS and IB history students via our website. Our rapidly growing library of free downloadable podcasts in history (and soon in other subjects) follows the secondary school and college subject syllabuses. Our video podcasts are designed to augment the learning material already available at secondary school level and to provide a closer link between universities and those interested in history outside the institution.
It is becoming imperative for universities to create a presence on the internet. Ivy League and leading universities in the UK already have experimental websites boosting their profile and attracting potential students. Our website offers important and substantial improvements on these sites and the random compilations of material on iTunes and YouTube.edu. Our material is grouped by subject rather than by institution – better for those interested in history and a less self- conscious method of advertising for universities.
Our services to universities include filming, which we can do for less that it costs universities to do their own filming, and, through our website, a way to reach the most important target market for universities. Besides 16-18 year olds studying history at school level, THF reaches the lucrative international student market. THF can also help universities with important knowledge transfer, reach out and widening participation targets. Lecturers can promote books and boost their profiles in ways that will prove important in the research excellence framework.
